Welcome to AAP4 and digital task #1

Welcome to Accelerated AP4 with Les.    I will be your teacher four afternoons a week and one morning a week for the next 6-1/2 weeks.

This blog in combination with D2L  will be my way of sharing digital information with you.  You are welcome to post comments to any of my posts.

The focus of my class  will be on listening and speaking, but  I will be helping you to write one big essay,  and teaching you grammar and vocabulary.      Naturally what we do is connected to what Sarah teaches you in the mornings.

An important part of this class will be learning about the strategies successful students use.
You will be utilizing these particularly with listening, speaking and vocabulary.    By the end of the term you should be very familiar with the term   KPAME.    I will be testing you on it.

Please use the internet resources I link on the right side of this blog page.

Digital Task #1

Take a vocabulary test to assess your vocabulary knowledge.  It is important in these tests NOT to click  ”reset test”.

When you are finished each test,  click ”score”.   Please write your scores for the  tests on the sheet your teacher gives you after each test.

i.  Go to   http://www.lextutor.ca/tests/levels/recognition/1k/test_1.html and take the test.   Record your score when you are done.

ii.  Go to    http://www.lextutor.ca/tests/levels/recognition/2_10k/ and take the tests for Level 2000, Level 3000 and Level 5000 and University Word List.   Record your score after each test.  When you are finished, please give your assessment sheet  to Les.

Digital Task #2

As one of your first digital tasks,   please do the following survey by going to this webpage, copying and pasting the survey into a MSWord page,   complete the survey and save it,  then email it to Les at:        leslie.barclay@viu.ca

Remember the principles of good text presentation,  and good email in completing this task.

If I receive your email,  I will send you a reply so that you know I received it.

Digital Task #3

Watch this clip from the television sitcom  "Big Bang Theory"  and make notes on what you notice about the conversation.  We will talk about this on Thursday.

Have a wonderful and successful term.
